A couple months ago President Biden expanded overtime benefits to over 4 million workers but this week a Trump appointed Republican Judge terminated the initiative!
The evidence is overwhelming of the Democratic Party’s long-term support for the Working-Class from FDR to Biden. President Biden’s recent overtime initiative fortifies his support for workers across America. But this week a Trump appointed Republican Federal Judge Sean Jordan halted President Biden’s executive action to expand overtime pay to over 4 million workers. Again, Republican actions benefit rich corporations who continue to register record profits but punishes workers who work overtime but do not receive overtime pay (time and one-half).
Corporations have found a secret way to force their employees to work overtime without being paid time and one-half (overtime pay). They simply designate a worker as “management”, thus any overtime will NOT get overtime pay. Biden raised the “wage ceiling” where corporations can utilize this tactic from $35,558 to $58,656. A Republican Judge declared it was not legal. Thus, workers forced to work overtime will not benefit with a bigger paycheck and just as important, the worker spends less time with family, less time to relax and unwind from the stress of work.
Time after time, now and in the past, Democrats support the working-class, America’s Labor Party. In contrast and it will intensify with the impending Trump/GOP administration, Republicans always support the employers, support the lucrative corporation and ignore the basic essential needs of the workers. Democrats must educate the public about their efforts of strong support of workers! The general public is unaware of it and the results of the past election reflect it.
